Workshop on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (POSH Act, 2013)

Abstract

Mr. Ameet, began the session with a quiz as a pre-assessment to evaluate participants' knowledge related to the subject. He continued to explain the significance of the POSH Act in preventing workplace sexual harassment and expanded the definition of a workplace to include various settings, such as offices, classrooms& labs(on the college campus), cafeteria and virtual environments. He defined sexual harassment as unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature and provided insights into the role of the Internal Committee (IC) in managing complaints, conducting inquiries, ensuring confidentiality, and recommending appropriate actions. Through practical demonstration he illustrated unwelcome physical contact. Additionally, he discussed the IC's role at MPBIM in fostering a harassment-free environment and organizing awareness programs. Mr. Ameet encouraged students to understand their responsibility to ensure a campus free of any sort of harassment. The workshop concluded with a question-and-answer segment, reinforcing the importance of workplace safety and legal compliance.
