Hands-on session titled “Excel for Data Analytics: Mastering Pivot Tables and What-if Analysis

Abstract

The session, facilitated by Ms. A. Divya Laxmi, Tax Associate 2 at KPMG Global Services, Bengaluru, offered participants practical exposure to data organization, analysis, and reporting using Microsoft Excel. Beginning with an engaging icebreaker, students explored essential Excel functionalities, keyboard shortcuts, and data management techniques that enhance analytical efficiency. A major highlight was the creation and application of Pivot Tables, enabling students to summarize and interpret large datasets effectively. Interactive tools such as slicers further enriched the learning experience, making reports dynamic and user friendly. Through guided demonstrations and exercises, participants gained valuable insights into real world data analysis and decision making. This initiative reaffirmed the Business Analytics Club’s commitment to fostering applied learning and equipping students with industry relevant skills.
